Born in Tîrgu-Mures, Romania in 1988, Ana Popescu is a standout visual artist based in Vienna, Austria. From 2006 to 2008, she studied Philosophy and Arts at Eberhard-Karls-Universität Tübingen, Germany. Later, at Vienna’s University of Applied Arts, she specialized in Graphics and Printmaking under Prof. Jan Svenungsson, earning a distinction by 2013. Today, Ana’s multifaceted background shapes her acclaimed work in Vienna and beyond.

Paradise is a series of 32 paper collages from the artist’s stay at PARADISE AIR artist-in-residency program in Matsudo, Chiba Prefecture, Japan, in April 2023.
The series works as a visual diary of everyday impressions between Matsudo and Tokyo, linked by the Joban train line. Details of buildings, the relation between light and shade, combined with bright colours portray a feeling of the peaceful but also busy life of everyday Japan.
